On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff, I want to welcome you to Shomrei Torah Synagogue's website. STS, is a vibrant Conservative Congregation located in the West San Fernando Valley. You will find that we are a warm and caring community whose mission is to teach, challenge, and support its members to grow Jewishly. We offer an array of spiritual, educational, charitable, and social opportunities in which to participate. As a Conservative synagogue, we are rooted in the wisdom of Torah as it guides us to face the challenges of today's world. We invite you to join us on this journey of spiritual growth, learning, community, and enrichment.

Michael Tudzin, President

Our new president, Michael Tudzin, joined STS in 1994 when his older daughter was two years old. Since then he has been an active part of our community. At about the turn of the century, after serving on the Legal and Security Committees, Michael was invited to become a member of the Board of Directors. Within a year, he was asked to fill the unexpired term of the departing Executive Vice President, a position that is usually only one election away from becoming the President.

It has taken nearly six years as the Admnistrative Vice-President (the revised title) for him to agree to accept the presidency. One of Michael's goals as STS president it to encourage even greater participation from members. He is thrilled to be in this position and he envisions a synagogue that is not only part of an STS community, but that is one part of an entire West Valley community of Conservative Movement Jews.

I look forward to having the opportunity to introduce you to our schools, religious happenings, educational programs, social events and much more. We work hard at STS to try to meet the varying needs of all of our members: from the youngest babies in our "Parent and Me" programs to our wisest seniors in our "Hazak" program. Don't be shy!
