Survival in Theresiendstadt:  The History of Marianka Zadikow

A Yom HaShoah lecture by scholar Deborah Dwork

 

Marianka Zadikow collected inscriptions and sketches from fellow Therensiestadt inmates prior to their deportation to Auschwitz.  Professor Dwork, through the surviving autograph album, will tell Marianka’s story and those of the many adults and children whose promise would never be realized.

 

This lecture is co-sponsored by:  Shomrei Torah Synagogue, Temple Aliyah, The Jewish Studies Program at CSUN and The 1939 Club.

Authors Susanne Reyto ("Pursuit of Freedom") and Eli Kantor ("Chosen for What?") discuss "Surviving the Holocaust." These are both popular and well-respected authors and speakers.  Cost:  $10 at the door. Reservations not required, but would help us in ordering food.

Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) Ceremony

 

The community is invited to join us for an emotional evening as we light the memorial flame in honor of those who lost their lives in defense of the State of Israel.

Highlights of the evening include:

·         Multi-media program

·         Lighting of a Memorial Flame (Ner Zikaron)

·         Greetings from a representative of the Jewish Agency for Israel

·         Songs performed by Rebecca Somberg, Lisa Auerbach, Naomi Ackerman and guests

·         Memorial readings
