One of our many goals at STS is to promote Tikkun Olam or Repairing the World. STS is involved with many projects in the spirit of Tikkun Olam:
Magen David Odam
We wish this program to help buy ambulances for Israel was not necessary. We pray for Peace. However, we can AND WILL help. That ambulance shown in the picture on the right is one that was provided by efforts like ours.
This is a combined Religious School, Men's Club, and STS Temple wide Tikkun Olam program to assist Israel's Magen David Adom project to buy ambulances and to purchase blood units in Israel.
It is also a program which the STS congregation participates in to educate and raise awareness for our children in our school programs, and our congregation at large into problems, challenges, and daily life in Israel.
Remember to fill your Magen David "cans" and bring them to our Main Office!
Legal Aid - Volunteers Needed
This center, is a joint project of the Los Angeles Superior Court, San Fernando Valley Bar Association and Neighborhood Legal Services. It is a walk in clinic assisting unrepresented litigants who seek legal recourse. The service is free to all residents of Los Angeles County. The Self-Help centers offer information, legal forms, and guidance on a variety of civil matters. The Centers do NOT provide legal representation or advice. They are just a resource center.
We are looking for volunteers for this program. A legal background is not required. There will be training.
You will learn about family law, assist people one-on-one with completing forms, helping others understand court rules and procedures and guiding people through the judicial process. There is no age restriction. High school students are more than welcome to volunteer.

Stiches from the Heart
Do you crochet or knit, or would you like to learn? This project makes blankets and hats for preemie's. For generations family and friends have shared the simple yet heart-warming tradition of knitting and crocheting. It gave them the opportunity to provide themselves and others with warmth and lasting memories.
Please join us to continue this wonderful tradition of sharing and learning. We will be collecting yarn to donate to the seniors at the Jewish Home for the Aging.
Stitching Tip #1
Always try to add or end a skein of yarn to your knitting/crochet project at the end of a row. If you are not able to, leave approximately 6 inches of yarn for weaving in securely at a later time.
Stitching Tip #2
When winding yarn from a skein into a ball, if a winding tool isn't available, be sure to wind loosely so as not to stretch the yarn
